  • Anyone can create a website that looks pretty, but sometimes pretty just isn’t enough. If your core business is scientific research, and your field of expertise stretches from sustainable energy over groundbreaking chemical innovations to applications for satellites to observe Earth (and much more!), then your website needs to offer some serious data as well.

  • The website we designed was conceived like a portfolio: instead of listing all of VITO’s products and projects, we took VITO’s five main research themes as the starting point and highlighted methods and results that could stand as references to VITO’s experience and capabilities.

  • At the top level, the website will not get into detail very much, but as the visitor clicks through to deeper levels, the information will become more elaborate. The goal of this trickle-down system is to make the website as visually attractive as possible on the higher levels, but also to satisfy the specialist’s thirst for knowledge.

  • Since VITO aims to keep its different target audiences informed via different channels, it is important that the information flow can be easily managed. Instead of having a multitude of content managers feeding a torrent of posts to various social media channels, we opted to make the corporate website the main source of information and to make it easy for the content managers to share the website’s information on the different social media.
